Hailing from New Ross in Co. Wexford, Tadhg Furlong has become something of a cult hero amongst Irish rugby fans. Having made his senior Leinster debut against Gwent Dragons on November 2013, Furlong’s career has continued to scale new heights. Indeed, following his first full season as a senior professional, Joe Schmidt couldn’t ignore a string of impressive performances and he called the tighthead prop into his Irish squad ahead of the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
Having played a significant role in Ireland’s first victory on South African soil in June 2016, Furlong also helped Ireland to their first ever victory over the All Blacks in November of that same year. It came as no surprise when Warren Gatland selected Furlong as part of his British & Irish Lions squad that summer, where he would go on to play an integral role.
