Seán O’Brien

Rugby Player // Leinster and Ireland

A native of Tullow in Co.Carlow, O’Brien made his senior Leinster debut against Cardiff Blues in September 2008. The back-row forward’s impact was such that within two years he would be the ERC European Player of the Year and a vital component of both Leinster and Ireland sides.

First called up to the Irish squad for the 2009 November series, Seán’s line-breaking and ball-carry abilities have been a feature of his 49 caps to date, while his domestic influence has coincided with the establishment of Leinster as the dominant force in European club rugby.

Having played a prominent role in the successful 2013 British & Irish Lions tour to Australia, O’Brien was once again selected by Warren Gatland to tour New Zealand in 2017.
